DC’s premiere festival for experimental music starts next week, on Wednesday, Sept 14, and runs through Sunday, Sept 18. Highlights include rare DC performances by internationally known noise artists Sudden Infant and The Haters, European Free Improvisors John Butcher and Keith Rowe, Ecstatic Peace recording artist Okkyung Lee, and Tzadik records recording artists (and local group) Les Rhinocerose. Local all-turntable ensemble Stylus kicks things off on 9/14 performing cut-up soundtracks for two black and white silent films [“Lot in Sodom” and the Surrealist masterpiece “Emak Bakia”] at the AFI Silver Theatre in Silver Spring, MD.
